Benedetti, Tricesimo, Roberto Vattori Editore, 1998), si lamenta la scarsa attenzione dei contributi critici che lo accompagnano per gli aspetti filologici, che risultano di estremo interesse e sono comunque indispensabili per collocare il testo nella sua tradizione.

Si portano nuovi argomenti a conferma dell’ipotesi che il commento C-D a Valerio Massimo derivi le citazioni di Orosio non dal testo latino ma dal volgarizzamento di Giamboni, e soprattutto si sostiene che molto probabilmente ciò vale anche per le chiose A.

New arguments are brought forward to confirm the hypothesis that Commentary C-D to Valerius Maximus derives the quotations of Orosius not from the Latin text but from Giamboni's translation, and it is argued that this most probably also applies to Commentary A.
