This study is a critical examination of the chapters relating to the Three Kings in Marco Polo’s text. It uses all the classical and special preserved versions of the Devisement du monde. Following the text one might think that the family Polo saw the authentic tombs of the Magi in Persia and told the true words of the Fire Worshippers. A careful investigation of the story does not allow to adhere to this presentation. The tombs seen in Savah are not those of the Three Kings. The Names given to the Magi come from the West, but not from the East. Marco Polo several times intervenes in the narrative. He puts himself on stage without reason. The association of the Child Jesus and the Sacred Fire of the Zoroastrians seems absurd. The Sacred Fire of the Persians should appear as an incarnation of Ahura Mazda. The words attributed to the Fire Worshippers are unbelievable. We are forced to challenge the veracity of this composite and questionable narrative.
