La novela Olivier de Castille de Philippe Camus (siglo XV, corte de Borgoña) muestra un entrelazamiento de motivos tradicionales (en el origen de todo ello la extendida leyenda de los "dos amigos") que, modificados y adaptados según el contexto histórico, forman un organismo coherente y adecuado al ambiente de la corte borgoñona, donde el mecenas de la obra y su familia gozaban de gran estima. Similares intereses dinásticos/familiares parecen haber movido al autor de la versión española (1499).

The novel Olivier de Castille by Philippe Camus (15th century, Burgundy court) shows an interweaving of traditional motifs (at the root of it all the widespread legend of the 'two friends'), which, modified and adapted according to the historical context, form a coherent organism appropriate to the milieu of the Burgundian court, where the commissioner of the work and his family were held in high esteem. Similar dynastic/family interests seem to have moved the author of the Spanish version (1499).
